Joy to the world

Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased. Luke 2:14

As the shepherds did what they do best, what a delight it would have been when the Angle of the Lord suddenly appeared and the brightness of the Lord shined around them.

Naturally, they were terrified, but what comfort it was to hear the angel’s reassuring words and know that he came bearing good tidings.

We all, in one way or another, are like those shepherds. Doing our thing, living our lives, longing to experience what the shepherds did when “the glory of the Lord shone around them.”

However, in our desire for glory, we miss the fact that the angels pointed away from the ring of light to the poorly lit stable.

As we celebrate this day, what are we actually glorifying? Is it the decorated trees in the mall, the presents we exchange, the delicacies we will eat, or are we shining the light brightly on the birth of Him who hung on the tree and took our sin?

Friends, today is a day of grand celebration. Today is the day our Heavenly Father send us His only begotten son. This is the greatest gift to mankind. Born today in a humble backdrop is the King of kings and Lord of lords. To bring peace to our anxious minds and heal our aching hearts. Let’s give Him the glory that is due to His name.
