John 15:14 “Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.” KJV

Good friends are hard to come by. God has given us the grace, wisdom and of course the free will to choose our own friends. He does not interfere in this process, but bestows upon us the grace to discern good from bad. And for some of us who are not so great at making friends, there’s always Jesus.

Since we are all familiar with the term – friend request, the above verse can be interpreted as an invite from our Almighty and ever faithful God. He wants us to be in His company, since a man is known by the company he keeps.

Today, Lord Jesus Christ is extending His friendship towards all of us. The Lord of the entire universe has allowed us to call Him our friend. He brings to life the concept, a friend in need is a friend indeed.

Jesus has proved time and time again that He is more than just a friend.  He promises to play the role of a true friend in every area of our life and in every situation if we accept His request.

Lord Jesus makes it quite clear that being friends with Him requires both commitment and responsibility.  We are reminded that God’s friendship has certain pre -requisites and we ought to adhere to them. We have been instructed to uphold His statutes and obey His commandments if we desire His unfailing friendship. This is a very low price to pay in comparison to the invaluable gift at hand, -the gift of His friendship. Are we ready to receive Him in the capacity of a true friend? Today, let us make a fresh start and hit the accept button and allow Lord Jesus Christ into our lives. It’s a promise that His holy name will add stature, grace and nobility to your friends list. He is all you really need.
