Learn to be Patient

Numbers 14:18 – “The LORD is longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty…”

Most of us are by nature impatient. We don’t enjoy waiting in long queues and barely hold it together when someone cuts us off on the road. We try to be patient to a certain extent, but some negative situations certainly bring out the worst of us. We are often quick to become angry, slow to offer forgiveness and hasty in judging others.

On the other hand, our God is longsuffering, slow to anger and extremely patient with us. He gives us numerous opportunities to repent when we mess up. He is quick to forgive us when we humble ourselves. His mercy towards us is unending. When we have experienced such grace from the Lord, isn’t it our duty to pay it forward?

If you find yourself struggling with anger, impatience or bitterness, ask the Lord to help you overcome it. The Holy Spirit will work in you to make you more like Christ. The next time you are tempted to say a harsh word or act hastily, take a moment and whisper a prayer. Allow God to give you the strength to overlook the offense and offer grace freely. He is certain to help!
