Genesis 12:3 NIV

I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.

Today’s promise clearly shows God’s favour toward His children, and it is truly encouraging. Yet we must remember that a command preceded God’s promise to Abraham. God gave him a directive to move out of his comfort zone, leave his father’s house, and go to an unknown place.

Abraham trusted God’s calling and obeyed His command. He did not question or hesitate; he simply followed God’s lead. As a result of his obedience, Abraham became greatly blessed. He was so prosperous that even the kings around benefited from him. Even today, we are witnesses of his descendants continuing to be a blessing to the entire world.

God’s love is unconditional; there is no question about that. However, His blessings may sometimes be conditional. Before He exalts us, we are often required to take a step of obedience.

Today, He is calling us – not to move away from our homes – but to separate ourselves from wrong people, wrong places, and bad habits. He wants us to move away from those things that we have become comfortable with.

God desires to lead us into a position where we can be blessed by doing His will and become a blessing to many around us. He desires to bless us just as He had blessed Abraham. The question is: are we willing to separate ourselves from worldly ways? Let us choose to obey the Word of God and walk into His abundant blessings.
