Romans 8:13-14
“If you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.” (NKJV)
The Bible is very clear about the fact that the gift of God is eternal life (Romans 6:23). The same verse also tells us that the wages of sin is death. However, we know that sin no longer has power over us because we choose to follow Christ instead of the desires of our flesh.
Our hearts are fickle and our human nature often overpowers our desire to live righteous lives. Today’s scripture warns us that if we live according to the flesh, we will die. If we continue to give in to the temptations around us, we trample on the gift of salvation that Christ paid for with His life.
On the other hand, when we put away our sinful habits and follow the calming voice of the Holy Spirit, He will guide us through His Word and lead us into eternal life. As long as we live in our bodies of flesh, we’re prone to wander and sin. That’s why it’s crucial to make confession and repentance a part of our daily lives.
When you keep coming back to God and live as He leads you, you’ll live victoriously as His son/daughter.
