Light of the world

John 12:35
You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. Whoever walks in the dark does not know where they are going.”

Light universally represents something good and right, whereas dark represents stumbling, fear, and danger. Having a source of light in some places can be the difference between life and death.

In John 8:12 Jesus says, He is the light of the world. As per John 12:35, Jesus is warning His disciples that He, the light, will be available a little longer; indicating His crucifixion. He is also encouraging His disciples to walk in the light before darkness overtakes them.

Today, His light represents His Word, and His teachings, etc. The people have an opportunity to respond to these, as God intends, by believing. But that opportunity is limited, like how Jesus had only a few days left before His crucifixion. These are among the last words He will publicly preach before being arrested. In the more general sense, people are not offered unlimited opportunities for salvation—sooner or later, our fragile lives will end. Those who reject God have no guarantee they’ll have another chance.

It is God’s heart that none should perish. So let us claim Philippians 2:10 and pray for the same before darkness overtakes.

Blessed Day Ahead.
