Living the Scriptures

Philippians 4:9 “Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.”

What we say and what we do is reflective of who we are and where we come from. It is no secret that our actions speak louder than our words. The way we conduct ourselves in situations, brings out our true character. A child`s behaviour can easily be traced back to his father. Therefore, it becomes imperative for a child to watch his conduct as he represents his father in everything he does. Isn’t this the relationship we share with our Father in Heaven?

Through the above verse, apostle Paul sends a friendly yet a stern reminder to all God`s children. He urges us not to be just hearers, but doers of the word. The gospel has been shared with us, with a purpose. Once we are in the know of His word, we cannot feign ignorance of it. Our Lord has hand-picked only a few, to whom all is revealed. As His beloved children, we have been introduced to a superior quality of life that is void of sin, shame and stain. We have been called to lead by example and not be one among the many.

Jesus Christ is a perfect example of how we ought to live and do the will of God. He glorified our Father in Heaven through His deeds and actions. Jesus was tempted by satan and confronted many hardships during His time on earth. He faced rejection, betrayal, contempt, ridicule and incarceration just to name a few. Yet He was able to overcome every challenge that emanated His way, because He lived in obedience to the word and the peace of God never left Him.

John 14:27 says” Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled; do not be afraid.”

Allow His peace to enter your hearts and overflow into your situations. This peace will guide you and lead you into victory. When we live by His word, He promises His peace. This is a promise and an irrefutable truth.
