Romans 4:20
He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God.
Romans 4:20 begins by stating that Abraham was unwavering, and ends by showing us how he stayed that way. Even in his old age and childless state, Abraham gave glory to God. He did not walk away from God simply because he lacked an heir. Instead, he continued to follow Him and give Him glory.
Abraham knew what a glorious God he served, and his faith was strengthened. When we look beyond our problems, we see the countless ways God has protected and led us, and we realize two things: we have nothing to take credit for, and we have lacked no good thing till date.
When we praise God despite our circumstances, we become unwavering believers who say, “You give and take away, but my heart will choose to say: Blessed be Your name.” Whether God answers our immediate needs or asks us to wait, we choose to obey Him and trust His plans. This transforms our relationship with God from transactional to truly relational.
Perhaps you’re currently in a season of waiting – for a breakthrough, a child, a godly spouse, a job, or healing from sickness. Whatever your situation, give glory to God for sustaining you and helping you endure. As you praise Him and glorify His name, your faith will grow stronger to endure God’s perfect timing.
Through doubts, impossible situations, sickness, and failures, hold fast to the truth that the God who called you is completely faithful. Even in the most difficult circumstances, you will never walk alone – He is always with you. And you will emerge with your blessing as an unwavering child of God.
