Love the Lord

Psalm 31:23:  O love the Lord, all ye his saints: for the Lord preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer.

This is an exhortation from the psalmist to love the Lord.  He has known the Lord and has tasted His love for him. He knew God during his troubled times as well as during times of rejoicing.  That is the reason for him to declare to all the saints to love the Lord.  He says that the Lord will preserve the faithful but punish the proud.

Times are not always good for a believer.  There will be ups and downs, rough waters and smooth, success and defeat, etc., but yet in spite of all these, God remains as God.  His love and His mercy never fails His children.  David experienced the love of God in all circumstances.  He had an experience of God’s greatness and with this experience, he was confident of the very presence of God that was leading him until his death.  He had great volumes to speak of God.  That is why he boldly declares everyone to love this God, His God.  The Lord preserves all those who are faithful to Him, i.e., He will keep them safe from all kinds of sins and temptations.  He will keep them strong in any kind of stormy weather.  God does this only to those who are faithful even though God seemed to have moved away from their life for some time.  He does not let the proud ones go unpunished.

Let us love the Lord because He loves us.  Be thankful to Him because he will preserve or keep safe everyone who is faithful to Him and those who trust Him.  Stop worrying about the proud in heart or the wicked because it is God who will deal with them.
