Psalm 95:1-2 “Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord! Let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving: let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms.”
The Holy Bible advises us to adopt a joyful and thanksgiving attitude towards worship. This requires complete dedication, focus and interest. How do we then transit from traditional to effective worship? Well, let us start by introspecting, why we worship and not how we worship.
Our worship should be built on His character and not our own. When we consider the things, the Lord has done and the battles that He has fought and won for us, worship becomes joyful. It transforms from an expression of thanksgiving to an act of celebration. Effective worship is powerful and can change the trajectory of our life. When we worship, God begins to work in our favour. It is in our worship that we discover the might and the strength of God. Worship enables us to reflect on our mistakes and surrender to His will. It brings spiritual maturity and God awareness.
Worship brings indescribable joy and peace. Therefore, it is the key to a powerful and effective prayer life. So, the next time you sit in His presence, don’t hold back. Give it your all. Remember that you are not worshipping some unique power. You are worshipping the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings, the creator of heaven and earth. Once we figure out who we worship, why we worship becomes clear.
