MORE POWERFUL THAN FIRE AND WATER

Isaiah 43:2 – “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you.”

In this life, our trials are not a matter of ‘if’, but a matter of ‘when’, and Jesus was The One who said “In this world you will have trouble.” (John 16:33a).  Many will be our afflictions, we are definitely not free from them, neither are we going to pass through this life without any trouble, conflict, trial.

However, the main difference is the promise that we believers have that our Lord and Saviour understands and has Himself gone through some terrible suffering most of us will never have to go through, the main one being His own crucifixion.

God promises to be with us when we pass through the waters, when we go through moments in our lives when we feel we can barely breathe: He will be there with us; or when we go through the rivers, when we completely lose control of a situation, when things change so rapidly, still the Lord promises to be with us and that the waters will not overflow us.

He also promises that when we walk through the fire, which can naturally fully consume us, still He says that even then we will neither be burned, nor destroyed by it.

The Lord promises to be with us through every difficult situation, by our side, on our every side, delivering us from all things that could — but will never have the power to succeed over us. As it is written: “No weapon forged against you will prevail”. (Isaiah 54:17a).

There is no power in this world stronger than the power of our Almighty God, The One who is our protector, our defender, our redeemer, our saviour! The One who conquered death, who has the power to give us life!  We all know the end of the story, and it is a ‘very good ending’!!!

When you go through the waters, the rivers, the fire, remember Who is by your side, and remember that He has overcome the world! Hallelujah and Amen!
