Nahum 1:7 NKJV
The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knows those who trust in Him.
Nahum, the prophet of God, receives a vision concerning the city of Nineveh. In his writings, he prophesies the overthrow and complete ruin of the evil city. Nahum warns Nineveh that God will bring judgment upon them for their sinful ways while promising God’s people that He is their Shelter and Strength.
Today’s verse talks about God’s protection over His children. The Lord is good to those who trust Him, ensuring their safety. He is the Stronghold or Tower of Refuge to everyone who depends on Him. The Good Shepherd is familiar with His flock – those who trust Him. He knows their every thought, need, worry, and tear; He will deliver them from all adversities. Nonetheless, He is also the God of justice and will not let the wicked get away unpunished.
In regions prone to hurricanes and tornadoes, people often make safe rooms or panic rooms in their homes. These shelters provide both physical safety and peace during extreme weather conditions. God Almighty is the Safe Room for all who believe in Him. Even when there are disasters and chaos everywhere, we can run to Him, and we are safe! As we read in Psalm 91:7, “A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you.”
Who do you run to when trouble arises? Who is your safe room? Run to Jesus, for He will keep you safe under the shadow of His mighty wings! Psalm 91:1 says, “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty”!
