Psalm 28:7 NKJV
“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; therefore my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song I will praise Him.”
Today’s verse emphasizes the intimate relationship king David had with the Lord. Even though he was a warrior king with many conquests under his belt, David acknowledged that his strength came from the Lord. He knew that the Lord was his Shield – defending him against the onslaught of the enemy.
David trusted in the Lord and God helped him. We too have the assurance that those who put their trust in the Lord will not be put to shame (Romans 10:11). God has good plans for us (Jeremiah 29:11) even when the circumstances of our life seem difficult. We serve a promise-keeping God who always has our best interest in mind.
David trusted in the Lord through various trials and he witnessed God’s helping hand at work in his life. If you’re going through a challenging situation, take a moment to submit it into the Lord’s hands. Allow the Holy Spirit to assure you that God is perfectly capable of handling your problems. Then, you’ll be able to find joy even in the midst of your trial, and praise the Lord because He helps those who reach out to Him.
Prayer: Father, thank You for being my Strength and Shield. I know You will give me the grace to overcome every challenge that comes my way. Help me rest in the assurance that You hear my prayer and You will work it all out for good. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
