2 Timothy 4:18
The Lord will deliver me from every evil work and preserve me for His heavenly kingdom.
The world celebrates Halloween today, as it is an opportunity for them to embrace evil as harmless and fun. We often feel peer pressure that urges us to conform to the ways of the world. In an era where it’s becoming increasingly difficult to be a follower of Jesus, we encounter many compromises in our paths. To maintain peace with the people around us, we make little, sometimes big, compromises. Finally, we end up too far away from our destination: the heavenly kingdom.
King Solomon started his reign well by seeking God’s wisdom. His time was known as the golden age of Israel. There was no king before or after the great Solomon who could rival him. However, despite his wisdom and knowledge, the kingdom was divided after his reign. King Solomon made compromises, largely due to his many marriages. Eventually, he was beyond deliverance.
In contrast, Daniel never compromised in his walk with God. Even with the lion’s den looming near for praying to the real God, Daniel did not cave in. As usual, he prayed to God alone. God delivered him and preserved him for His glory. Even if there were no rescue, Daniel would never settle for the world’s practices. Eventually, although the kings around him changed, he was able to serve in the top position under several kings.
Like Daniel, we need to remain faithful to our God so that He is proud of us. Let us desire to be famous in the eyes of God rather than in the eyes of the world. Our deliverance and establishment come from God alone. A life of no compromises is the only way to glorify God!
