Do not lose your saltness

Mark 9:50:  Salt is good; but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another.

Jesus said that we are the salt of the earth.  What is the importance of salt?  Salt is a very important ingredient in cooking.  Even if we add on all the other colorful ingredients and create a good aroma out of our meals, if there is no salt in it, the whole meal is termed a bland meal.  The meal may look finger-looking good and smell like heaven, but without salt, nobody would prefer to eat.  Salt is meant to add flavor and enhance taste.  It is also considered as a good preservative.

Jesus wants us to maintain “saltness.”  What does that mean?  He wants us to be filled with flavor and be those people who will cause a difference in the lives of those whom we come across daily.  He wants us to show His love through our lives.  He wants us to be people full of joy and happiness among those who have lost hope and comfort.  He wants us to live out our lives to the fullest.  We should live this abundant life that Jesus has given us and be the salt in the world.

Let us be people who create a change wherever we go.  Be at peace with one another.  Never lose your saltness.  Never stop being the joygiver in someone’s life.  Add flavor and taste to someone’s life.  Spread God’s love and peace.
