Psalm 91:3
“Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence.“
In the above verse, we have a great truth laid down in general: those who are in God are constantly protected and sustained. Specifically, this scripture refers to the snare of Fowler and perilous pestilence. What are these?
Fowler is someone who hunts wild birds for food. He hunts by setting snares or traps and places something to lure the birds in. The snare and hunters hide themselves to surprise the birds that enter and entrap them.
An enemy is a fowler who sets snares or traps to lure in God’s children. He can use any distraction to entrap us. We who are unaware of his scheme might succumb to his trap. However, the promise of God in Psalm 91:3 is “Surely He will deliver you”. Psalmist expresses his confidence that God will not allow us to succumb to the enemy’s traps and rescue and deliver us if we should fall.
Perilous pestilence refers to deadly, disastrous, and destructive plagues. Since Adam’s fall sickness is been part of our world. Pandemics or epidemics come and go. It’s not been long since we have witnessed one such pestilence. If we are alive today it is because of His protection over our lives. He either protected us against it or through it. His protection is been reconfirmed a few scriptures ahead in Psalm 91:10-11: “No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways.”
We are blessed to experience such protection and safety as we dwell in the secret place of the Most High and abide under the shadow of the Almighty, consider Him as our “Refuge” and “Fortress” and trust Him for our lives.
Blessed Day Ahead.
All Glory to our Lord Almighty Jesus who has always protected me throughout my life. I have had many falls recently but absolutely no hurt ever time n many other things.
