Our treasure

Proverbs 8:18-19:  Riches and honour are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness.  My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver.

The greatest riches that anyone can have is wisdom.  God gives wisdom to everyone who asks Him.  We have to appropriately use the God-given wisdom.  Solomon here says that wisdom is calling out that riches are honour are with her and that her fruit is better than gold and her revenue is much better than choice silver.  The scriptures say that Christ is the power of God as well as the wisdom of God.

We can have all the riches and wealth in the world and yet be foolish by not having wisdom.  On the other hand if we do have wisdom or Christ in our lives, we get blessed with all the material as well as the spiritual blessings.  God’s gift of grace, salvation, etc., far exceeds than the worldly riches.  If we apply godly wisdom in everything we do and set our priorities right, we will taste and see the goodness of God.  We will get to taste God’s wisdom which is far better than rubies here on earth.  We shall be happy in the grace of God and in the Spirit of God who will lead us in paths of righteousness.

Greater than the riches and wealth of this world is the riches of God’s grace, redemption, sanctification, etc., which He gives to those who wisely choose Him as their personal Lord and Saviour.  If we choose the Lord Jesus Christ in our life, we will have everything that we ever needed and He is more than enough.
