Path of Righteousness and Mercy

Proverbs 21:21 He who follows righteousness and mercy finds life, righteousness, and honor.

Solomon, in this verse, reminds us that the path that leads to abundant life, purity, and honour is the path that involves the pursuit of righteousness and practising mercy. This formula is simple; those who manifest these virtues into their lives are the ones who are rich in blessings and honour.

Righteousness usually means moral correctness, mercy being compassion and forgiveness. Choosing this path is not merely a moral decision. But it should be a deliberate commitment; always striving and never letting our human instincts dominate our spiritual commitment.

Following this path is a journey that ensures personal purity and extends compassion and forgiveness to others. In this, we discover the richness of life, a life marked by the favour of God and an attempt to be in the likeness of Christ; where we find life, not death, righteousness, not sinfulness, and honour, not shame.

Today, let’s reflect on our path. Are we following the path of righteousness and mercy? If we are, let us celebrate and keep growing and not remain stagnant. And if not, a new day is a new opportunity for God to reconcile and change our path. God wants all His creation to be blessed with His gifts. Let us be of the same goal and follow His simple formula.
