Psalm 40:1-2 “I waited patiently for the LORD; And He inclined to me, And heard my cry. He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, And established my steps”
We have all heard this saying that patience is a virtue. But how many of us enjoy patience as a virtue? We may have all experienced that one moment in our lives where our patience has not yielded the desired results. It has on the contrary brought us disappointment and heartache. This is what happens when we wait on the people of this world. But when we wait on the Lord, it changes everything.
The above verse is a classic example of calling upon the Lord in times of distress and waiting patiently on Him to deliver us from our conditions. We serve a God of impossibilities. No situation is too big for Him. Having said that, it is not easy to be positive in a negative circumstance.
A broken relationship, financial hardship, fatal illness, failure in life can drain us physically and emotionally. It is tough to gather courage and strength to recover from such damages. It can make us pessimistic and bitter towards everyone and everything. Many of us tend to look up to worldly things to bring us hope and relief. Little do we know that this will only worsen our situation as the people we seek support from are also humans and have limitations. We are bound to be disappointed.
This verse comes as a reminder to all of us that we serve a limitless God. Therefore, the next time you are laden with problems, look on His unchanging face to give you the strength to overcome it and make your situation known to Him through ceaseless praise and fervent prayers. He will not only give you the stamina and the courage to deal with the situation, but also reward you for your patience and perseverance. Today may be a good day to remind yourself of His promises and commit your life into His loving hands because He never fails.
