Privilege of Upright

Psalm 112:4
Unto the upright there arises light in the darkness; He is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.

“Upright” is the English equivalent most often used for the Hebrew yasar, it means straight or evenly distributed. Through Psalm 112:1 we get another definition; Somebody who fears the Lord and delights greatly in His commandments.

So, an upright can experience darkness! It can be uncomfortable conditions either physically, mentally, or spiritually. As an upright delight in the Lord, He, who is gracious, full of compassion, and righteous will shine His light and dispel the darkness.

We can see this when the Israelites were in Egypt as slaves, God’s deliverance broke through like a break of day and kept them and rescued them. Daniel and his friends in Babylonia were in darkness exiled and away from home and losing everything, yet thrived as God’s light arose over them. God’s Word encourages us to walk blameless and upright before Him, because as Psalms 37:24 declares “though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand.”

Let us therefore walk this life delighting in Him and His commandments. Demonstrating obedience always and reaping the divine providence and protection from Our gracious compassionate righteous God.

Blessed Day Ahead.
