Source of joy and pleasures

Psalm 16:11
“You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”

This psalm is entitled Michtam, which some translate as a golden psalm, a very precious one because it speaks so plainly of Christ and his resurrection. David expresses joy in believing nothing will separate him from fellowship with the Lord.  Psalm 16:11 had a profound meaning in David’s life. We see it was God who orchestrated every part of his life. David always delighted and strengthened himself in God. Having God by his side was the prime strength and pleasure always, even so when he was confronted with his sin, he feared losing God’s presence rather than his pleasures of the world. David’s true joy was to have God with him.

As a Michtam this psalm also foreshadows Jesus’ resurrection from the grave. The same Spirit who raised Jesus from death dwells in us. We are the temple of His Holy Spirit. He is our guide, as Jesus says in John 16:13. We too can experience the joy, assurance, and security that David experienced then, all we are expected to do is remain in Him and He in us. Crave for the fellowship with God. The one who led David is faithful to lead us too.
He is life and hence shows us the path of life.
Joy is one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit, hence remaining in Him fills us with joy always
In Christ, we have life, joy, and abundant life (John 10:10).

Therefore, He is worthy of all praise and honor. Let us put our faith and trust in Him alone to make our lives beautiful.

Blessed Day Ahead.
