“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways when they carry out their wicked schemes.” (Psalm 37:7 NIV)

Truly knowing God means trusting His perfect timing. Imagine yourself as the mastermind behind a company’s establishment. You have meticulously planned and executed projects, ensuring timely success and profitability. But suddenly, there’s a team member who constantly finds reasons to hinder progress or has a negative attitude of “it’s not my job.” Such a situation would overwhelm you, and you would desire to remove that person from the team.

Similarly, God has intricately designed every aspect of our lives, from beginning to end, HE is the mastermind. Each piece is perfectly placed. Even delays are blessings in disguise, and our prayers are answered abundantly. Our responsibility is to avoid becoming the nagging team member who obstructs God’s provision through negative words and attitudes.

We must learn the art of being still. It is a rare trait in our fast-paced world, where we occupy ourselves with various activities and mindless scrolling on our mobile devices. This often fills us with comparisons, seeing how others seemingly excel in life. We witness people enjoying vacations, receiving promotions, updating their LinkedIn profiles with new job titles, getting married, or having babies. All these developments in others’ lives may lead us to question, “When will it be my turn to share such things?”

The answer to this question lies in the verse above, Psalm 37:7. It encourages us to be still before the Lord, waiting patiently for Him. We are instructed not to fret or be troubled when others succeed before you. Let us cultivate a stillness within us and entrust that in God’s perfect timing, He will work everything together for the good of those who love Him and place their trust in Him.
