1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
This Scripture encourages us not to view challenges as mere obstacles, but as invitations to accept everything from God with gratitude. Amid our daily realities—physical fatigue, struggles at home, demanding workloads, or discord within our communities or nations—God invites us to turn our hearts toward Him.
If we view hardships as invitations to a deeper relationship with our loving God, we can easily find reasons to rejoice, pray, and give thanks. These acts demonstrate our faith in God’s purpose for us. Every demanding addition to our workload can be an opportunity to pray for God’s strength. Every challenging day can be an opportunity to thank God for building our patience.
The Scriptures reassure us of God’s care in every season. When we are tired, God makes us lie down in green pastures (Psalm 23:2). On days when we’re mentally and emotionally burdened, God invites us to take His yoke instead of our own (Matthew 11:28-29). When we feel overwhelmed, the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guards our hearts and minds (Philippians 4:7). Every word of Scripture is true, so we can confidently reach out to our loving Father at all times. We should be thankful for the comfort He provides in every form: spiritual, emotional, and material.
Let’s take time during this Lenten season to thank God for the moments that test us. Let us learn not to overlook the challenges that call us into faithfulness. We should be thankful to God for the demanding and exhausting seasons, just as we are for joyful and jubilant days. God’s purpose is evident even through trials, transforming difficulties into meaningful opportunities!
