Rest, Wait, Fret Not

Psalm 37:7 – “Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself…”

The practice of rest is not commonplace in society today. We’re a generation that’s always on the go. We have glorified the busyness of our daily lives. We’re constantly striving, working hard to achieve something greater. While hard work is to be applauded, we must also make time to be still and rest at God’s feet.

Today’s key verse tells us to rest or be still, and wait patiently for God. That might be a difficult for someone who’s used to constantly doing something. But resting in God and waiting for Him is an act of faith. Do we trust God enough to be still when we’re itching to take matters into our own hands?

Sometimes God says go, and we can boldly go forward. Other times, God urges us to stay still and trust Him to act. But in the waiting, we should remain calm and not fret. Anxiety and fear signify that deep down, we don’t trust God to do what’s right for us. We must not forget that God is a good Father who delights in giving good gifts to His children. Will you choose to rest in the Lord this week? Wait patiently for the Lord and don’t fret. You can trust God to work things out for your good and His glory.
