Colossians 3:15

Let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.

In today’s fast-paced world, our hearts are often pulled in multiple directions. Deadlines, expectations from ourselves and others, comparisons, and constant notifications can leave us feeling restless and burned out. Colossians 3:15 reminds us to allow the peace of God to rule in our hearts. It also emphasizes the need for God’s children to be unified in Christ and to remain thankful at all times.

The word “rule” suggests the role of a judge who makes the final decision. In other words, God’s peace should be the deciding factor in our thoughts, reactions, and choices. Irrespective of the circumstances we face, His peace guides us toward what is right and steady.

This peace is not dependent on external factors. It does not come and go based on how life feels in the moment. Instead, it’s deeply rooted in the assurance that God is in control, even when things don’t go our way. When God’s peace rules our hearts, we begin to respond differently. We choose patience over panic, trust over fear, and calmness over chaos.

The reference to “one body” highlights the importance of unity. We may sometimes feel the tension between our own thoughts, emotions, and logic, but it’s important to stay aligned with Christ and His Word and live in harmony with one another.

Finally, the verse speaks of gratitude. Gratitude brings a powerful shift in perspective, moving our focus from what is lacking to what we already have. Even in difficult times, a grateful heart creates space for peace and stability.

Today, pause and ask yourself: what’s ruling my heart? Invite God’s peace to guide your thoughts, shape your responses, and anchor your day.
