Psalm 37:39 NKJV
“But the salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; He is their strength in the time of trouble.“
In the book of Psalms, David throws light on several experiences and wisdom he received from God in varied situations. In Psalm 37:39, he talks about the salvation of the righteous. ‘The salvation of the righteous’ in the verse is interpreted as the protection and deliverance of the law-keepers from the schemes of the enemy. He emphasizes that true security and salvation come from the Lord and not through our efforts. Human protection can help to a limited extent in the visible world, but God’s angels keep us from the unseen enemies of the spiritual realm.
In times of trouble and pestilence, which are inevitable, God is our strength. He is our protector, defender, and provider. David writes these lines based on several experiences in his life where he stood alone, with only God by his side. In those moments, he discovered the nature and character of God. A constant reminder that our strength and protection come from God is important as we navigate hurdles in our lives.
Dear God, thank You for being our shield. Your everlasting mercy follows our every step. We are grateful for our salvation through Your Son, Jesus. Help us honor You and take refuge under Your wings all our days. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
