Psalm 28:9 “Save Your people, And bless Your inheritance; Shepherd them also, And bear them up forever.”
David was a man after God’s own heart. He ran to God in every situation as he shared a close relationship with Him. For David, God was the only source of help that he needed and that was enough for him.
In Psalm 28, David cries out to God as usual for help and God hears him and offers him mercy and help. He does not wait to praise the Lord Almighty and thank Him through songs and Psalms. He makes another prayer as a conclusion and asks for three things for the people who belong to God.
He asks God to be a protection for His children. As God is our Almighty Father, He can save His children in times of trouble. That is why it is important to first run to God when we face unprecedented circumstances. He cares for us and comes to our rescue.
David also understands that as God’s children we deserve His portion of blessings in our lives as an inheritance. It is the love of God poured out to us in the form of favors and anointing.
The guidance and care of a shepherd for his sheep is of most value. We as His people long to be directed according to His steps. Sheep do not know the way on their own but it is the shepherd who leads the sheep to the right path. Likewise God shepherds His children when we ask him to. He never forces anyone to follow Him as He is looking for children who love Him for who He is.
Let us also pray like David and ask God to save us, bless us and shepherd us in the walk of our lives.
