Seeing God, Sharing Peace

Matthew 5:8-9 NIV

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.

A pure heart doesn’t mean a perfect heart, but one that stays honest and strives to walk in accordance with God’s Word every day.

When we let go of everything that hurts God and make room for His grace and truth, something shifts. We start to notice God in places that we would usually take for granted. For instance, in a kind word, a quiet sunrise, or the gentle way peace settles after prayer. That’s what it means to see God. To sense His nearness even in our ordinary moments and not just in our battles.

In the corresponding verse, Jesus speaks about peacemakers. Not peacekeepers who avoid conflict, but peacemakers who step into tension carrying calmness. Peacemaking takes much more than what we often imagine. It requires a commitment to forgive first, listen longer, and love when it’s inconvenient. As children of God, this act of peacemaking should be a part of our nature too, as it reflects His character.

When we live with pure hearts and peaceful hands, we begin to resemble our Father. Let us live as children of God, walking in love and reflecting His light in small but eternal ways.
