“Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.” John 12:24
In the above verse, the Holy Bible beautifully uses the analogy of the wheat seed to show the importance and value of sacrifice.
We are often told that sacrifice is a sign of weakness. We live in a world which teaches us to be self-centred and often looks down on people who are selfless.
However, the Bible changes our perspective towards this mindset. Sacrifice is considered a sign of strength and is very pleasing to God. When we make sacrifices that are in obedience to God’s Word and His will for our life, it does not go in vain. God rewards our efforts with a double portion of His blessings.
Keeping this in mind, the Holy Bible encourages us to give up on desires that take us away from God. We must not hesitate to give up on things that disconnect us from our Lord, as this will ensure fruitfulness in our life. It will bring forth joy, peace and success. What we sacrifice may just be the deciding factor in how our life turns out.
Therefore, let us be prudent in making life choices. Let us not get carried away by the things of the world, rather let us set our eyes on all things that are pleasing to God.
Prayer : Dear Lord, help me to give up on things that take me away from You. Let my heart desire the things that You desire for me, so that I may lead a fruitful and godly life. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
