Psalm 104:33 – “I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.”
Not all of us are gifted singers. While many are blessed with an amazing voice and a natural ear for music, some of us are challenged in the singing department. It is interesting to note the number of verses in the Bible that talk about singing to the Lord. But nowhere does it say we have to sing in the right pitch, follow the exact tempo or have a melodious voice.
Singing to the Lord is an act of worship. God cares more about the heart behind our worship than whether we’re hitting the right notes. If you can sing well, great… keep giving your best voice to the Lord. If you cannot, don’t let that stop you from praising God from your inmost being.
There is another aspect we must address though. What about those times when we don’t feel like singing? Unanswered prayers, difficult circumstances and challenging times mute our songs. Our situation may be bad, but God is always good… and for that one reason, we can always praise Him. When you aren’t able to praise God for anything else, praise God for who He is. He is your Savior, Master, Healer, Father, Friend… He is the Lord Almighty. Nothing is impossible for Him. God will never leave you nor forsake you. Proclaim His promises and sing to the Lord with every breath you have.
