Understanding, wisdom, and knowledge are essential tools for making sound judgments. We need wisdom to know how to respond aptly to problems or situations. Wisdom is necessary to distinguish between right and wrong and truth and error. It is essential to living a life of success and impact. True knowledge, understanding, and wisdom come only from the LORD God. The Lord gives wisdom to whoever asks Him without judgment or reproach.
Those who obey God will have more wisdom than an arrogant genius who relies on their abilities. The Lord gives wisdom to a righteous person to understand the minute things in life. God blessed Bezaleel with wisdom to construct the complicated tabernacle (Ex 31:1-11).
Only the Holy Spirit can help us gain wisdom from interpreting God’s word. The Holy Spirit uses the word of God and gives us the insight to handle situations that make us successful.
How can we get wisdom?
- We must be humble before God.
- We must request wisdom from the Lord.
- We must read the Bible because it contains a wealth of knowledge.
- We must be open to receiving godly counsel.
Only those attentive to the Holy Spirit and who hear Him will benefit. The book Ecclesiastes and Proverbs in the Bible focuses more on practical wisdom. A person who is sincere in their quest for wisdom will study the word of God.
