Jeremiah 30:16 – “Therefore all those who devour you shall be devoured; And all your adversaries, everyone of them, shall go into captivity; those who plunder you shall become plunder.”

This verse reinforces to us that God “will have mercy on whom He will have mercy, and He will have compassion on whom He will have compassion”.(Exodus 33:19b). We have done much wrong in the sight of God, we all have disobeyed Him, we all have one way or another saddened His heart. But still, in spite of all that we have done, He extends His Grace towards us.

He forgives us because He is Love. And just as a father corrects his children, so does our God corrects us when we disobey Him. And because of His grace, and our repentance, there is a turning point when God decides that we have suffered enough for our wrongdoing; or that we have fought enough; that we have been kept away long enough; that we have been stolen more than enough.

When He extends His arm, His righteous right hand, when He speaks, when He acts, then our story begins to change.

So, when God is NOT for us, we are truly in big trouble. The good news is that He ‘is’ for us, and not against us! (Romans 8:31). This does not give us the right to abuse His goodness, grace, love and favor over us. This should encourage us all the more to please Him — we are really much better off being on His side, so that He remains on ours! Amen!
