For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. – John 6:38 (NIV)
The Lord Jesus Christ came to do the will of His Father by bringing redemption to the lost. Our Lord Jesus Christ showed by example how to obey the will of God, even when He faced His death. Instead of letting fear overwhelm Him into discouragement, our Lord Jesus went on His knees and prayed, “Father, not my will, but yours alone.”
The Lord has a plan for each of our lives. In Jeremiah 29:11, God reveals His desire for us. For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Do we know God’s will for our lives?
If we need help finding the Lord’s will for our life, we need to go to the word of God. Psalm 119:105, says the Lord’s word is a lamp to our feet and a light for our path.
When we trust in the LORD with all our heart and lean not on our understanding; in all our ways, we submit to Him – He will make our paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5&6). When we know how to discern the will of God, we won’t be confused or feel lost.
Whatever life holds for us later today, tomorrow or the future, God alone has the specifics. He is willing to help us when we ask Him. Our Lord Jesus will guide us along the best pathway for our life. He will advise us and watch over us (Psalm 32:8 NLT).
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for the plans you have for our lives. Your plans are good and wise; help us to trust you with all our heart. In Jesus name – Amen.
