The One Thing You Can Hold on to

1 Peter 1:24-25 – “All flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, and its flower falls away, but the word of the Lord endures forever.”

It’s always a joy to see a new bud blossoming into a flower. It adds a bit of color to the garden, and shines a small light on a dreary day. But the thing about flowers is that they don’t last forever. While some blooms last for weeks, others wither up in just a day. Bouquets of beautiful flowers are an expression of love and gratitude, but when they eventually dry up, we have to throw them out.

Isn’t that the same with almost everything around us? Most of our food has an expiry date. Gadgets and appliances eventually stop working right. But there is one thing that lasts forever – God’s Word. We might not have the assurance that our jobs will be secure through the pandemic, but we can be 100% sure that God’s promises for us will secure us forever.

Bank interest rates might be plummeting and inflation might be pinching our pockets, but our God is bigger than the economy. You can trust Him to provide for you, and protect you from the ill-effects of the pandemic. If you need reassurance, you just need to turn to the Bible and recollect the promises He has given you over the years. What God says, He will do. You can be sure of that.

Prayer: Father, thank you for Your Word that sustains me in these uncertain times. Help me hold on to You, knowing You will never put to shame those who trust in You. Solidify my faith, Lord. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Praise the Lord Pastor, in student ‘s days of UG I was expecting a smaller job so can take care of myself without depending on parents. But in due course by God’s grace was able to pursue PG degree in economics. Then i shifted my dream to become a lecturer, so became. After 26 years I pursued Doctoral degree. Now elevated as professor. Now i feel like nothing i have achieved. But, by God’s grace i am child of God, achieved a lot. My emptiness is gone because God is with me guides and comforts. Now i encouraged through word of God. Living a peaceful life. I don’t want to loose peace of mind for a peace of land that my brother’s fighting. I am not worried about my daughters because Heavenly father rakes care of all my needs.
So, move on with the presence of Holy spirit without fear in this pandemic season.
Loving Heavenly Father help us to do your will. Help us to stand firm, help us to move on in prayer without ceasing in the precious name of Jesus I pray. Amen
