The Power of Prayer

Acts‬ ‭12:7 – “And behold, an angel of the Lord stood next to him, and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him, saying, “Get up quickly.” And the chains fell off his hands.”

The story of Peter being miraculously released from prison is an astounding display of God’s power. But the angel didn’t just appear out of the blue. When we go back a couple of verses, we see that, “Peter was kept in prison, but earnest prayer for him was made to God by the church.” The moment the early believers knew Peter had been imprisoned, they started praying for his deliverance. They just might not have expected it to come in the form of an angel!

Wouldn’t it be lovely if every prayer we prayed was answered as miraculously? Truth is, we have all faced some unanswered prayers that might make us doubt the validity of our prayer. However, the power of prayer is not dependent on the one who prays but the One who hears our prayer. God hears every word you say, He sees the tears you shed and understands the silent cries of your heart.

If you’re waiting on God for an answer to prayer, don’t give up just yet. Keep praying, keep seeking God and keep waiting on Him to work. Even in the waiting, God will grant you peace in your heart and strength to endure until you receive your breakthrough.
