Romans 5:8-9

God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved.

The desire to be loved and the ability to feel love have been inherent in the human heart since the beginning. While some view love as a mere feeling, others consider it a verb that proves itself through actions. The Bible profoundly talks about God’s love for mankind from even before the creation of the universe. God’s love isn’t confined to His desire and delight in His children but is demonstrated by what humanity needed most – redemption.

Romans 5:8 reveals the love our Lord Jesus displayed by bearing our sins and shame and dying for us. He suffered for us in the most brutal manner. Christ died for us while we were yet sinners. He didn’t wait to see perfection in us to give us His greatest gift. He poured out His love despite our innumerable flaws and ability to stumble. The verse reflects God’s choice to do good for us when we could neither repay Him with our deeds nor accept His love wholeheartedly.

We were subject to the justice system of God. But Romans 5:9 shows that Christ’s sacrifice was a gift of justice and mercy wrapped together in unchanging love. Not only did we become eligible for redemption, but also the justification that came along. The blood of Christ now surrounds each of us, making us blameless in the sight of God Almighty. The Holy Bible expresses the zenith of perfect love with every facet satisfied and every requirement met by the great work of Christ our Lord. Everyone who accepts and confesses Him as Lord is free by His grace!
