Matthew 5:6 – “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.”
The dictionary defines ‘satisfaction’ or ‘contentment’ as “the fulfillment of one’s wishes, expectations, or needs, or the pleasure derived from this.” That seems such a dream, doesn’t it? In reality though, we have wishes that remain unfulfilled, expectations that aren’t met and needs that never seem to end.
When we try to find satisfaction outside of Christ, we will keep searching all our lives. We won’t be content even if we have an amazing job, the perfect family, a huge bank balance and all the fame and fortune in the world. All the famous people who are addicted to drugs and an immoral lifestyle are proof of this.
On the other hand, Jesus gives us the secret to true satisfaction. Those who hunger and thirst for righteousness will be filled. You cannot try to be righteous on your own; only Christ can robe you in righteousness through the blood He shed on the cross – for your sins and mine. The more you seek Jesus, the more you will find satisfaction. It is in Him, and through Him that we have our being (Acts 17:28). When you live for Jesus, you will find true peace and contentment.
