Romans 15:13 – “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Don’t you love the words scattered throughout today’s Scripture verse? God, hope, joy, peace, believing, abound, power, Holy Spirit… the words paint a glorious picture of a life that’s marked by the presence of God. It’s often difficult to find joy and peace when we’re battling the craziness of a busy lifestyle, but it is there for our taking.

The Bible says that when we believe in Jesus, we will find joy and peace. It’s no coincidence that these are fruit of the Spirit as well. Our joy and peace need not be limited to what we feel when we’re lost in a time of worship or listening to a powerful sermon. We can choose to be filled with joy and peace wherever we are, no matter our situation.

But what do you do when the situation is grim? When you don’t have enough faith to hold on? You hope. Hope trusts that even if things aren’t so great now, God will make a way out for you. You can abound in hope even in your darkest hour by the power of the Holy Spirit. Have hope that God will shine a light into your dark places and raise you up to your rightful place. You are His child and He will not let you down.
