“You are My flock, the flock of My pasture; you are men, and I am your God,” says the Lord God. Ezekiel 34:31
Throughout the Bible, we can see many occasions where God emphasizes on this statement – I am your God and you are mine! God has established an everlasting covenant with us which promises us that He will be our God and we will be His people.
This is what God has done for us in Lord Jesus Christ. He chose us before the foundation of the world. He called us out of darkness and brought us into light. And he took us for Himself to be His, to make Himself our God. He chose to dwell with us as Emmanuel. From everlasting to everlasting, God is with us!
When God says He is our God, it means He is sovereign over us. He is in charge and total control of our lives. God says to us who believe in Him that:
I am your God (He is over us)!
I am with you (He is by our side)!
I will strengthen you (He is within us)!
I will help you (He is all around us)!
I will uphold you (He will support us from beneath)!
“Let not our hearts be troubled, believe in God.” Let God be our God, our help, our strength. He will uphold us with his righteous right hand. Trust him and do not fear.
