Psalm 37:11
“The meek shall inherit the earth, and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.”
When we think of strength, we often associate it with power, dominance, or the ability to win when the odds are against us. Yet, when viewed through the lens of God’s Word, the entire idea is quite inverted. Psalm 37:11 reminds us that it is the meek, not the aggressive, proud, or self-sufficient, who will inherit the earth.
Meekness is not weakness. It is the strength to surrender, the ability to lay down pride and embrace humility. It is choosing patience over anger, trust over control, and God’s will over our own. The meek live with a steady confidence in God’s promises, knowing He is in control even when life feels unfair or uncertain.
The promise in today’s verse is profound: inheritance and peace. While the world constantly chases positions, recognition, and possessions, God offers us something far greater – an eternal inheritance in Christ. This inheritance is not fleeting like worldly success but secure and everlasting.
When we practice meekness, we are set free from the exhausting need to fight for ourselves. We no longer need to prove our worth or demand our rights, for we rest in the assurance that God fights for us. From that moment of surrender, we find delight in His presence and experience the abundance of peace that transcends all understanding.
To be meek is to walk in quiet strength, rooted in the certainty that God’s promises never fail. And in His perfect timing, He lifts the meek and grants them lasting joy.
