2 Corinthians 6:18 NKJV

“I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”

What a comforting verse and a hope for broken hearts! Don’t we all long to feel tenderly loved, especially during life’s hardest times?

God’s tender heart cares for us in ways unimaginable. His fierce love is evident in His protection and how He ensures justice for His children. Time and again, the story of Israel displays this character of God. He shows His saving hand from the beginning of creation and marks a separation between His people and the world. The Bible is a consolidated story of a fiercely passionate God who redeems His chosen people despite their rebellion. As tender as He is in His love towards us, He is also a jealous God, who will not share His children with other gods.

God’s gracious love reminds us that He will constantly be there for us, revealing Himself strong on our behalf. So many of us struggle with various things on a daily basis, but God says, “I will be a Father to you”. Despite our rebellion, our fallbacks, and our darkness, God still loves us the same. He has chosen us to display His glory to the world.

God’s love compels us to live with a faith, mindset and lifestyle that’s different from the world around us. In the context of today’s verse, Paul reminds us to stay away from worldly influences and remain committed to the Lord. So, while struggling with sin, insecurity, or the darkness of this world, let’s remember that there’s no safer refuge than our Father’s arms.
