Philippians 4:19 NKJV

My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Today’s verse is quite familiar to us; we have likely declared this in our lives or someone else’s at least once. In his letter to the Philippians, Paul expresses gratitude for the gift they sent him, upon learning he was imprisoned. Paul took this chance to update them on his circumstances while also encouraging their faith.

In today’s world, it’s easy to get caught up in the chase for popularity, success, and wealth. However, many who go after these material goals end up unsatisfied and even depressed, wrestling with a sense of failure. Why is it hard to find satisfaction in what we already have? While social media may contribute to some extent, our discontent hearts could be the core cause.

Paul was content, regardless of his situation; he chose to rejoice in the Lord even in a confined prison. Like him, we can trust and depend on God. We should learn to find our sufficiency in Christ through every season. Jehovah Jireh is enough for us!

Everything we have comes from God. When we learn to be content with the blessings we have received from Him, we open our hearts to give cheerfully and generously. The Philippians gifted Paul sacrificially but generously. Paul promises them that God will reward them for their kindness. We can do good only with the strength and grace of God, and through Him we should expect rewards for it. He is the ultimate Rewarder! When the Lord is our Shepherd, we will never find ourselves lacking!
