True Hope

Romans 5:5 – “Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”

All of us have wishes, hopes and dreams for our life. It’s good to do our best, work on our goals and excel at the work of our hands. But is that where our hope lies? Do we depend on the security of our current job? Or a bank balance that gives us the freedom to buy new things? Perhaps we’re reliant on parents who can bail us out or friends who’ve promised to stay with us through thick and thin.

Take a minute to examine where your hope lies… in your relationships, education, skills, experience? It will only take a small misunderstanding to ruin a good relationship. An economic downturn can ruin your career and new technologies may make your expertise obsolete. So where then should your hope lie? In Christ alone!

When you hope in Christ, you will not be disappointed because His love for you is unending. Trust in God’s promises for you. Believe that He will work out even your worst situation for your good. Stand firm in the faith that the God who died for you will strengthen you to live for Him. Place your hope in Christ and rest in His love for you.
