True Love

Romans 8:1 (NKJV)

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

Everyone has thought about true love. We may have heard, read or more likely dreamt about it.

But have we felt true love? The kind of love that it is impossible to imitate and yet, freely available for all to experience.

Betrayed by one of His own disciples, scorned by thousands of His countrymen, tortured to the point of death, humiliated on the cross, and yet the Lord Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.”– Luke 23:34 (NKJV)

While the physical pain was excruciating, the burden of bearing the sin of the entire world was indescribable. Unable to withstand the pain, the Lord Jesus looked to our Heavenly Father for support.

But the load of sin that was centred on that cross was too much for even the Father to witness. And for the first time the Father had turned His face away from His Son. That’s when the Lord Jesus, cried out “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” – Matthew 27:46 (NKJV).

Even at that instant the Lord Jesus could have summoned angels from heaven and destroyed everyone who had inflicted pain on Him. But the Lord Jesus bore it and took the sin of the world upon Himself to save humanity.

That’s why the Holy Bible says, “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.” – John 15:13 (NKJV).

We are the friends for whom the Lord Jesus sacrificed His life. More importantly we are His children, a relationship sealed by the blood of our Lord Jesus. Satan can tempt us and lead us astray at times. But as long as we hold on to our relationship with God and walk according to His Spirit, the Lord will be gracious and merciful to forgive us.

Are we in need of deliverance from satan’s attacks? Call on the Lord Jesus. “The name of the LORD is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe.” – Proverbs 18:10 (NKJV)
