Ephesians 3:8-9–“To me, who am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, and to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ;”
In Ephesians 3, Paul says although unqualified but through the grace of God, the Holy Spirit revealed to him the ‘mystery’. For all of us who have been chosen and saved, it is the same thing. We have neither earned nor do we deserve it. Still, we are given gifts to attain our purpose only through the grace of God. For Paul, the purpose was about the mystery—that unbelievers and believers are heirs of God (we get the same help and promises in Christ Jesus) through the gospel. In particular Paul had to tell all the unbelievers about the inheritance they would receive by believing in Christ. He says he was the least qualified among Christians, with no background in God’s way.
Similarly, while creating you, God has added to your DNA the prerequisites for your purpose. David was given singer/songwriter genes because God knew he would praise God using this medium. God planned and created the heavens, the earth and all of us. God has been working behind the scenes from the very beginning. His plan was executed through Christ. We are His heirs! Do we know our purpose? Are we using the inexhaustible riches and generosity of Christ? When we trust in Him, we are free to say whatever needs to be said, bold to go wherever we need to go. We only need one thing to keep that umbilical cord to God intact – our faith.
Abba Father, we thank you for making us Your heirs through our faith. Give us wisdom, knowledge and understanding of what you have purposed for us. Help us to use Your riches to fulfill this purpose for your glory. In Jesus name we pray…Amen
