Mary is a pivotal figure in the Christmas narrative. Though the spotlight is often on the manger where she gave birth to our Saviour, the miracle of Jesus’ birth was conceived much earlier.
Engaged to be married, Mary was excited about her wedding and the life that was to follow with her to-be husband. Just then, an angel of the Lord paid her a visit. He told her that the Holy Spirit would come upon her and she would give birth to the Son of God.
Didn’t Mary have countless reasons to doubt the angel?
Though the Lord had miraculously opened closed wombs in the past, the birth of a child without marital relations was unheard of! Moreover, a miracle as such was sure to create doubt and mistrust in her fiancé. After all, even he had never heard of a child being born under such unnatural circumstances.
Nevertheless, she believed with all her heart! Her unusual faith made way for God to orchestrate a history-changing miracle in her life!
Often, we forget that nothing is impossible with our God. The only thing that limits God is our faith.
Just like Mary who trusted God for a historic miracle, can we stop containing God in a box and trust Him for our great miracle? God has already put faith in each of us. It is up to us to unbox it.
