Psalm 66:8 NKJV
“Oh, bless our God, you peoples! And make the voice of His praise to be heard“.
Fanny Crosby was one of the greatest hymn writers in church history. She composed around 5500 hymns, including ‘Blessed Assurance’, ‘Pass me not oh gentle Savior’, and many more. Despite being blind from childhood, she spent her entire life praising God. Even without the gift of sight, she was content with her other gifts. She glorified God by honing her talents and wrote many hymns that are sung to this day. Fanny once mentioned, “If I had a choice, I would still choose to remain blind, for when I die; the first face I will ever see will be the face of my blessed Savior.”
Though we have countless blessings to be thankful for, we often portray a complaining nature rather than praising God. While we may not be talented in writing songs, we can still find numerous reasons to glorify God in every aspect of our lives. We can honor our God by serving people He has placed above us, with us, and under us. Our family, workmates, and strangers may hurt us and bring out the worst in us, but instead of responding with negativity, we should reflect the fruit of the Spirit.
The story of our lives takes shape based on whether we lead a praising lifestyle or harbor a complaining attitude. We read that the power of life and death is in our tongue (Proverbs 18:21 NKJV). The choice is ours to make, but we can choose wisely with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will shift our perspective from our problems to an awesome God who is mighty to save us (Zephaniah 3:17 NKJV).
When we praise God, the presence of God fills us, and it is impossible not to experience the transformation in our lives. Today, let the voice that people around us hear be the praises of God, who loved us and gave His life for us. Then, like Fanny Crosby, we will have no complaints or regrets.
