Lamentations 3:25 – “The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him.”
To wait means to stay where one is– or delay action until a particular time — or, until something else happens. And the Lord is good to us when we wait for Him because when we do, we let God be God. He undoubtedly knows what is best for us and He will do it in His time, not ours.
Though waiting for the Lord is not always easy, we must also seek Him. And while we are waiting and seeking, He prefers if we wait quietly. (Lamentations 3:26). Not complaining, not whining, not questioning why the delay, but rather quietly waiting, as it is written: “who can speak and have it happen if the Lord has not decreed it?” (Lamentations 3:37).
And the reciprocal is amazing: “therefore the Lord will wait, that He may be gracious to you…blessed are all those who wait for Him.” (Isaiah 30:18). David wrote: “I waited patiently, and He inclined unto me, He took notice of me, He listened to me, He turned toward me and heard my cry for help.” (Psalm 40:1).
The Lord is good. He is a good God. He moves Himself towards us, He inclines His ears towards us! Who is like our God? Let’s wait patiently and expectantly for the Lord. Let’s put our trust in Him, our hope in Him, for His compassions never fail!
