Walking in Wisdom

Proverbs 24:5

A wise man is strong, yes, a man of knowledge increases strength.

Are we truly wise? And if so, by whose standard—ours or God’s? Wisdom is not merely about intellect or experience. In Scripture, wisdom is deeply rooted in our ability to make godly choices, live righteously, and seek understanding through the fear of the Lord (Proverbs 9:10).

God has given us the gift of free will. We are not puppets; we are His children. That means we are called to make thoughtful, prayerful decisions, not impulsive ones. Our choices reveal whether we walk in wisdom or folly. The Bible clearly tells us that if anyone lacks wisdom, they should ask God, who gives generously without finding fault (James 1:5). Are we praying for wisdom regularly?

Wise people are strong, not just in intellect, but in character and resilience. They are not easily deceived or led astray. Let’s explore how we can grow in godly wisdom:

1. Ask God for Wisdom

Solomon, when given the opportunity to ask for anything, chose wisdom over riches or fame. God was pleased and gave him both wisdom and everything else he didn’t ask for (1 Kings 3:9–13). If God could do that for Solomon, He can surely do it for us, too.

2. Read and Meditate on His Word

The Bible is the ultimate guidebook for wise living. It offers principles, examples, and instructions that equip us for every area of life. As Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” When we store God’s Word in our hearts, we make better decisions.

Let us daily seek the Lord, not just for blessings, but for wisdom that brings strength, direction, and life.
