Psalm 84:11 KJV “For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.”
Lord Jesus Christ is often referred to as the Everlasting Light, and rightly so. He is known to dispel darkness and enlighten the people through His grace. The above verse calls Him the sun and shield, confirming the fact that He is a God who can be trusted at all times.
Comparison with the sun is only figurative, as we all know that He is greater than that. Just like when the sun rises, it brings with it the great light and a new beginning, similarly when Christ came to earth, He brought about a greater light in which the people could see the truth for what it is and a superior way of living. His coming changed the perception of many, bringing about revival and repentance.
He is also the shield, as He shields us from our enemies and puts us on safe ground. He comes to our aid in times of trouble and wins our battles. His grace and glory give us hope in difficult situations.
It is a given that when the Lord is by our side, we will lack nothing good that comes from Him. He will not only guide us in the path of righteousness but also give us the strength and wisdom to lead our lives. This verse is a promise that can be claimed by all who believe in Lord Jesus and depend on Him for all their needs.
The Lord guarantees abundant life to all those who call upon His glorious name with reverence and humility. His presence is the key to a bright and prosperous future.
